Hoffy's Two Way Channel Swim 2008 - It's confirmed, the boat is booked...

Well, it's now confirmed and as the last adventure comes to an end, the next one begins. I have just filled in my forms and posted my cheque as a deposit for a two way channel swim attempt on the first tide of September 2008.

For a very good reason, I have booked Neil Streeter on SUVA as my pilot, and Alison [Streeter] has agreed to do her best to be on the boat with me. Having personally witnessed that she has inherited all of her mother (The General's) techniques in preventing people getting out of the water in training, this is what I will need if I am to become one of just a select few who have swum the channel both ways in a single attempt. I am looking forward to the challenge, which will be a 1 year challenge starting today!

I was also delighted yesterday, when I received a cheque from Andy Gray of The Beat Goes On Records, who has agreed to be a GOLD SPONSOR for the challenge, and as per last year, is my first corporate sponsor. Thanks very much Andy, and it is great to have you as a Gold Sponsor once again.

Well, here we go again. I am looking forward to it, and as with last year, I will keep you constantly updated with the training, events and fundraising etc. On that note, I would like to thank Kerry Cornish at the Westbury Community Centre, in my home town of Bury St Edmunds in England, for putting on a fundraising event last night at the centre. Live on stage was "Mystique" with her lovely assistant Deidrie who did some magnificent tricks with some interesting implements (see picture below). The event raised £577.14p which will be donated to CLIC Sargent, the UK's largest children's cancer charity, during the next week. Thanks very much Kerry, this now brings the total amount you have given to my swim to £1,157.14. I really can't thank you enough.

I am really looking forward to the challenges of the next year.
