Fundraising for CLIC Sargent and St Nicholas' Hospice at the annual Bury St Edmunds Charity Market

Above: Explaining the route across the English Channel to two visitors to our Christmas charity stall.

Every year in early December, a Christmas charity market/fayre is held in Bury St Edmunds to enable local charities to raise funds for their particular causes. This year, we decided to have one to help raise further funds for our open water swimming charities, St Nichaols' Hospice in Bury St Edmunds and CLIC Sargent, the UK's largest children's cancer charity based in Langton Place, Bury St Edmunds.

Braving the icy cold elements, we setup stall on Bury St Edmunds Market to shake our buckets to try and raise at least £100. Beccy has just started her new sports massage business (Body and Mind Studio) so we offered people the chance of a 5 minute chair massage through their clothes for a small contribution to our charity buckets.

All in all it was a very successful evening raising £106.36 which has been donated to the two charities. The total we have raised so far is:-

£15,505.13p

I am already planning 3 big open water swims for next year, one of which is already booked for July 01, 2009, while the other two are still being planned. This is all to help us reach our eventual target of £50,000. If you would like to sponsor us during this season of Goodwill, then please do so by clicking on one or both of the links below:-
